A special congratulations to our Executive Director, Alison Paul, for being awarded the 2024 Pierce-Hickerson Award at the National Legal Aid and Defender Association’s Annual Conference in Atlanta last week. Created over two decades ago to celebrate civil legal aid advocates Julian Pierce and Robert Hickerson, the Pierce-Hickerson award honors outstanding contributions to the advancement and preservation of Native American rights.
From supporting the development and success of our Tribal Advocacy Incubator Project (TAIP) to helping manage a U.S. Department of Justice’s Tribal Civil and Criminal Legal Assistance (TCCLA) grant that provides funding to 26 Tribal legal aid organizations throughout the country, Alison’s commitment to supporting tribal members in Montana and throughout the U.S. speaks to her dedication to pursuing access to justice for all.
